How matching works
- RMFI joins on the official Members API id in the Interests CSV for the latest Commons register. Counts and categories on an MP page come only from that CSV — no invented amounts.
- EC donations pull regulated-donee rows (
et=rd) of type “MP - Member of Parliament”, keep those accepted on or after 4 July 2024, and fuzzy-match RegulatedEntityName to the current Members API name. Confidence is high / medium / low. - Low-confidence matches are still shown so you can reject them — they are not treated as identity proof.
- If an MP page shows no matched Electoral Commission rows, that means nothing in this snapshot’s PEF window matched that name — not that the MP received no regulated donations outside the match.
These are Electoral Commission PEF records, not the Commons Register of Members' Financial Interests. Names are fuzzy-matched to current MPs and only high/medium confidence rows with a shared surname are kept.

Caveats
- RMFI thresholds and categories mean not all income appears in the Commons register.
- Category 2 of the RMFI (donations and support) is still the parliamentary register — it is not a mirror of the Electoral Commission PEF file.
- Watchtower never invents donation amounts; values come only from the PEF CSV when present.
- Name matching can miss MPs who use a different style on the EC register, and can false-positive on similar names — read the confidence label.
